Splendor (01)In the myth of Icarus, the sun exhibits two moments: one of brightness and splendor at the moment of elevation (light) and another (combustion) in which the sun determines the fall. In that sense the sun seems to combine the symbolic, factual and magical caracteristics to devour the Kamikazes, or at least to become the ultimate goal of the suicide mission. Splendor is a set of 40 monochromatic drawings in small format, no larger than half letter, made with ink. the drawings are based on diverse films such as, Tora tora tora, The last kamikaze, For those we love, I will die only for you above all, The empire of the sun and real footage. The light, the disappearance, the blur, the simplicity of the images, the contrast, the exposure are important characteristics throughout the entire series. |
